The Elements of Success - Getting Noticed Online with Viral Marketing
Written by ady on April 30, 2009 – 12:37 pm -Do you really need viral marketing software? Let’s study the five essential elements of a highly effective marketing strategy. After you learn these, you may decide that what you need is something else.
Give something useful for free. What you offer may be information, an e-book, a software program or something else entirely. For example, you could offer a limited function or basic software program at no charge. However, to get the “premium” version or membership, the customer would have to pay for it.
Video game providers often use this technique. You are able to play their games for free, but to get only limited features and you must pay for their full version. People that love the game and get addicted to it in the trial, will often pay for the extended version. Viral marketing software cannot tell you what to give away. A company that offers great personalized service can help determine that.
The second element is to design a method that allows your specific offer to be transmitted from a single person to everyone they know. Typically, this is done via e-mail. Surveys show that when a person finds something interesting on the web, they share it with an average of six friends. The number of people that you can speak to grows exponentially, this takes us to the next element.
You must be able to effortless and effectively handle the increased influx of business. You may need to have an auto-responder set up or other virtual “assistants” in place. You may need to upgrade your website to handle the traffic or increase your stock, if you are selling an item. If you provide a service, you will need to determine just how many new clients you can handle. Is there a possibility that viral marketing software do that for you? No.
The fourth element is to take advantage of common reactions. Think of it this way, a common reaction to a picture of food is to stimulate hunger. If you sell food, you want every photo on your site and in any email communication that appears so tasty looking, it will create a feeling of hunger. Another great example is the “what will it do for me” mentality. Consumers probably don’t want to know all the details about a car’s reinforced side beams. They want to know that the side beams protect their family during an accident. Tell someone what your product will do for them and you will have a brand new customer.
Lastly, is to become part of and use existing communication networks to gain an advantage. That’s the one thing that viral marketing software might be able to do for you. But, it cannot offer everything that you need for your campaign to be a success.
